Compassion in Action - Saving Cats in Need
A Soldier's Cat: Finding a New Home
"The cat was being taken care of by the parents of a person in the military who got deployed for an extra four years, and they were no longer able to care for the cat," Cricket explained. "So they called me instead of it going off to be disposed of. I kept it because it had a heart condition, and it would have been put down at the other shelters. I don't do that."
This cat, like many others Cricket has taken in, had a slim chance of survival due to its medical condition. Cricket's compassionate heart and dedication provided a new lease on life. "She's been with me now about a year, and she's doing just fine; hangs out on my desk, comes and sees me sometimes in the bedroom, so she's doing well. Didn't cure her heart problem, but I had the heart to give her the rest of her life. How could anybody possibly want to euthanize her?"
Building a Cat Sanctuary
His dream is to build a cat sanctuary outside of Colorado Springs, a safe haven where these cats can live out their lives in peace and safety. Cricket's vision for the sanctuary includes building barns and apartments, creating a safe play area free from the dangers of cars and predators. This sanctuary will not only provide a home for his current cats but also allow him to rescue and care for many more cats at risk of euthanasia due to age or medical conditions.
However, Cricket cannot achieve this alone. He needs our help to make this vision a reality. By supporting his mission, we can ensure that these vulnerable cats continue to receive the love and care they deserve.
